Site Coordination

The Lebanon Site Coordination Group is part of the Shelter & Collective Site Coordination Sector, part of the humanitarian contingency planning and response.

Introduction

The 4 objectives of Site Coordination are:

  • Ensure displaced persons and communities including those in formal and informal sites have access to safe and dignified living space with equitable access to information, assistance, and services.

  • Support local authorities in assessing needs, monitoring and coordinating assistance to displaced persons living in collective shelters as well as in host communities and those who have chosen not to leave their shelters in Areas of Origin to mitigate duplication and make sure the response is needs-based, diverse and inclusive.

  • Ensure local capacity building support to Site Managers, Municipalities, NGOs, Volunteers, and Emergency Operation Room/Cell on Site Management and Site Coordination, Humanitarian Principles, and Protection Mainstreaming.

  • Ensure that the utilization of public spaces and facilities to accommodate displaced individuals and families includes thorough planning for their care and maintenance. Additionally, develop exit strategies for these sites with a primary emphasis on site maintenance and decommissioning activities to rest site to its original condon.on.
